Brock’s Gap Learns about Bullying
rock’s Gap Intermediate got a special treat from Miss Hamilton Jayla Duncan on Friday, October 6, when she came to talk about bullying.
As part of her community service initiative with the Miss Alabama Organization, Jayla read a book to the 4th grade students and talked about why she formed her initiative titled, “Jayla’s Justice: An Anti Bullying Campaign.”
“I was bullied when I was about your age at school,” Jayla recalls. “I used to beg not to go to school, and I didn’t want to go to my extracurricular activities. But through my support system, I learned to face my bullies and eventually even became friends with them.”
Jayla’s personal experience led her to choose teaching kids how to deal with bullies and how they can seek help as her platform.
About Jayla’s Justice
Jayla’s Justice: An Anti Bullying Campaign was formed in 2015 as the community service initiative for Jayla’s participation in the Miss Alabama Teen competition. She also founded her 501(c)3 Be the SPARK Foundation (Sharing Positivity and Inspiring Random Acts of Kindness) to raise money for anti-bullying materials she uses in schools and in the community.
